Power Exercised Wisely
Instant acceleration, quiet operation, smooth performance, and emissions-free. That’s the power and the promise of a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV). The Toyota bZ4X is the next step in our electrification journey, to offer mobility solutions that are brimming with intelligent and intuitive technologies.
All Electric. All the Time
In place of an internal combustion engine, BEVs are powered by a large battery pack and high-output electric motors. Because it runs on electricity alone, Battery Electric Vehicles emit no exhaust from the tailpipe. BEV batteries are recharged to some degree as you drive, largely through regenerative braking. However, BEVs must be plugged into a wall outlet or charging equipment to achieve a full charge in order to deliver the full benefits of their electric-only operation.
Power Up for Peak Performance
Charging a BEV is simple. Just plug it in. At home, at work, or at any public charging station. Battery Electric Vehicles charging times will vary depending on whether you are using Level 1, 2 or 3 charging.
Level 1 Charging: Standard
Charge your BEV using a standard 120-volt AC wall socket. The slowest way to charge, it can also be the most convenient and requires no special equipment.
Level 2 Charging: Faster
A 240-volt AC outlet can cut BEV charging times in half. Install one at home, or charge up at any Level 2 public station.
Level 3 Charging: Fastest
Direct Current (DC) Chargers (480V+) are currently the fastest method of charging your electric vehicle. Canada has more than 5,000 public EV charging stations – 500 of which are Level 3 fast chargers.
Reduce Your Footprint. Electrify Your Ride
QUICK, SMOOTH & QUIET
Instant torque means instant acceleration. With no transmission and no gears, the drive is exceptionally smooth. With electric motors, you’ll also notice a world of quiet.
EMISSIONS-FREE DRIVING
Reducing CO2 emissions by going fully electric is one way we can help lessen greenhouse gasses, and lessen our impact on the environment.
LOWER MAINTENANCE COSTS
Say good-bye to oil changes. With no engine or transmission, BEV’s have fewer mechanical parts. That could help add up to a lower cost of ownership, including service and maintenance costs.
ELECTRIC-ONLY RANGE
Modern BEVs can travel further than you may realize. Toyota’s bZ4X, for example, has an estimated range of up to 406km for front wheel drive models on a full charge**. With more than 5,000 public charging stations across the country, it is easy to re-charge along the way.
SAVE ON FUEL COSTS
Electricity is cheaper than gas. Savings can be even higher if you recharge during off-peak hours. Buying an electric vehicle (nrcan.gc.ca)
INCENTIVES
The federal government’s iZEV program offers an incentive of up to $5,000 for the purchase of a zero emission vehicle1. Visit Transport Canada to learn more.

** Manufacturer-estimated 406km total driving range for 2023 bZ4X XLE FWD using approved Government of Canada NRCan test procedure standards and when vehicle is fully charged and operated under ideal driving conditions. Other powertrains/grades may vary. Use for comparison purposes only. Actual range may decrease significantly depending on speed, outside temperature, accessory use, how/where you drive, charging habits, and other factors. Battery capacity also decreases with time and use which will reduce range. See www.nrcan.gc.ca or Owner’s Manual for details.
